As you can see in this picture CSW places emphasis on utilizing traditional proven techniques.  These include but are not limited to using a well compacted drainable base, geotextile fabric between the drainable backfill and the existing soil on site, and placing stones with a lean or "batter" which helps counter act the forces applied to the wall by the backfill.  You may also note that many stones do not show the largest face, infact they show a smaller face and have the longer portion of the stone extendting into the hillside to help improve stability and tie the stones to the backfill.
